While American award shows are fretting with the writers strike still on the horizon, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has no such obstacle. So all those nominated yesterday can send out their tuxes to get pressed and their dresses to be taken in, because the show will go on. And the big show at the BAFTAs looks to be Atonement, which received a total of 14 nominations, nearly a nomination in every category for which it could be nominated. The ceremony will take place on February 10 at London's Royal Opera House, a ceremony for which some newspapers, like TimesOnline, are wondering "Can the Baftas outshine the Oscars?"
