Focus Features has announced the addition of Dani Weinstein as Executive Vice President, Publicity.
Reporting to Marketing President Jason Cassidy, Weinstein will direct all strategic and tactical publicity efforts for theatrical releases as well as oversee Focus' award season initiatives.
Weinstein joins Focus after 17 years working with Harvey and Bob Weinstein - first at Miramax and then at The Weinstein Company.
We're thrilled that she is joining the Focus team.
Asked for thoughts on the new assignment, Weinstein said she was "thankful to Jason Cassidy, Peter Kujawski, Abhijay Prakash and Robert Walak for giving me the opportunity to join their ranks during this exciting time at the studio. I always strive to work on films that are beautiful in their artistry and impactful, and this is well aligned with Focus’ philosophy. I am eager to begin working in this upcoming slate with such a high-caliber team.”
Cassidy added "Dani is a consummate professional who has an incredible track record for spearheading breakthrough publicity campaigns for specialty titles. Her breadth of experience working with world class filmmakers and talent, and collaborative style of leadership, makes her uniquely qualified."
While at Miramax and The Weinstein Company, Weinstein worked on numerous high-profile titles including Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York and The Aviator; Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained and David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook.
Additional properties include The Artist, The Imitation Game, The King's Speech, Fruitvale Station, Lee Daniels' The Butler, Philomena, The Reader and Carol.
