Bring on the Competition
Focus Features and Sofia Coppola will be taking The Beguiled across the globe as they ramp up for June's U.S. premiere.
Set on a gothic plantation in the South during the Civil War, the film will screen in competition in France and Australia before returning to the States for a June 23rd release.
First up is the 70th Festival De Cannes [May 17-28] where Coppola has competed twice before. In 2006 Marie Antoinette was awarded the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and in 2013 her study of society The Bling Ring was nominated for Un Certain Regard Award.
Following Cannes, The Beguiled will be one of twelve films in competition at the Sydney Film Festival [June 7-18].
Update: The Beguiled added to the 2017 Los Angeles Film Festival lineup with double-feature screening of Lost in Translation. Passes available here.
