The Brit paper The Guardian's profile of JANE EYRE star Mia Wasikowska covers a lot of ground, from her early passion for ballet, her first films (including THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT) and her love of photography. As Kira Cochrane, the writer of the piece "Mia Wasikowska: 'There's a common misconception that the loud kid in the class is the actor'," notes "a photo she took of JANE EYRE co-star Jamie Bell, and director Cary Fukunaga, the two suspended quirkily in mid-air, was a finalist in a national portrait prize in Australia this year." But more than a second career, Wasikowska explains how having a camera helps in her acting job: "it equals everything out. It's become my shield and my weapon. They're always poking measuring tapes in our faces, and cameras, so I just think: I'll do the same back."
