Steven Zeitchik has a lovely piece (“Saoirse Ronan shoots for something different in Hanna”) about the relationship between actress Saoirse Ronan and director Joe Wright in Sunday's Los Angeles Times. The two met when Wright cast Ronan for the part or Briony in Atonement, a role that got her an Oscar nomination. Ronan, who signed up for Hanna early, remembers how she helped bring Wright on for this film. “"They said they didn't have a director," the Irish actress (first name SER-sha) recalls. "So I said, 'Why don't you just ask Joe Wright to do it?'” As you reaed the piece, you get a  sense of the very real affection both have for each other. Zeitchik recounts:

When asked how she felt about Wright when they first met four years back, Ronan replies, "It was a long time ago. I don't remember it very clearly. But the thing that stuck with me is that I basically fell in love with this man." Wright, with a sentimental drop in his voice: "Oh, Sersh."
