It's hard to imagine that Gary Oldman recent Best Actor Oscar nomination for playing George Smiley in TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY was his first ever, especially considering his 26 years of amazing performances. To celebrate one of our great actors, New York's WNYC Radio (www.wnyc.org) is hosting a free retrospective of six iconic Gary Oldman films from February 6 - 8, 2012 at Landmark Theaters' Sunshine Cinema (www.landmarktheatres.com). The retrospective kicks off on Monday, February 6 at 6:30 PM with Sid & Nancy (1986), Oldman's breakout role as Sid Vicious, the real-life bassist of the punk group The Sex Pistols, followed at 9:00 PM by JFK (1991), with Gary Oldman playing another notorious historical figure, Lee Harvey Oswald. On Tuesday, February 7, you can catch Mr. Oldman in the political drama The Contender (2000) at 6:00 PM, followed at 9:00 PM by Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) with Mr. Oldman suited up as the legendary vampire. And then on Wednesday, February 8, see Gary Oldman playing the rowdy and randy playwright Joe Orton in Prick Up Your Ears (1987) at 5:00 PM, followed by a special screening of TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY at 7:30 PM with Mr. Oldman on hand for a Q&A afterwards.
