Daily Beast blogger Venetia Thompson reports that THE DEBT star Jessica Chastain was awarded the 2011 Gucci Award for Women in Cinema. In addition to the honor of the award -- and the fun of having Madonna introduce her -- Chastain will benefit from Gucci donating $25,000 to the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in her name. After being touted by Madonna, Chastain took the stage to say she "couldn't think of a better example of an intelligent, creative, and dynamic woman than Madonna." Click here for video of the event.
