In W Magazine's "On Set: THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES," Fan Zhong goes behind the scenes (with photographer Atsushi Nishijima providing a fascinating BTS slide show). Director Derek Cianfrance talks about his filmic influences (from Hitchcock to Abel Gance), working with stars like Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes, as well as the story's epic scope.  Shooting the film in his wife's hometown, Cianfrance acknowledges the drama's powerful theme of family  and fate:" I was thinking about how the choices you make now have an impact on your children years down the line."
